revolution. noun. a forcible overthrow of a government or social order in favor of a new system. a dramatic and wide-reaching change.
a lofty goal, in a sense, but what the Revolucion de Rosas represents is a combination and manifestation of many personal revolutions. one might question whether or not music can cause, or even be a catalyst to, that revolution. we leave it up to you. it can be a revolution from the stifling ideas and regulations that govern your life and actions, or a revolution of music in general, that revitalizes your connection to the local st. louis scene. it can be a revolution from your emotions, or better yet, lack thereof. it can be a revolution from the normal social boundaries, or the unfortunate trends that plague every relationship, romantic or otherwise.
the Revolucion de Rosas is about magic. it is about mystery. it's about discomfort and vulnerability. it is about celebration and evolution. it is about loud fucking rock and roll.
the birth of the Revolucion idea came almost two years ago in an unkempt kitchen. jeffro johans and a few close friends, fueled by whiskey and gasoline, sketched the vocal skeleton of a magic rock show. this show would transport the patrons to a different conscious plateau than the normal local rock show. it would be a fellowship of bands, and friends to pull off the best performance possible. it would engage and involve all those who came to show support. it would set the example for the way bands support each other.
the first Revolucion de Rosas concert was held june twenty-ninth, two-thousand and seven at cicero's in university city. four hundred and fifty white roses adorned the stage, the musicians and the sold-out crowd. it was along-scale concert of continuous music that included the revolutions of the daybreak boys, the coherent, go van gogh, and the red water revival. when it was over, everyone knew things had changed. for the better.
here we go again. the Revolucion de Rosas II will be held at Harrah's Voodoo Lounge on thursday april tenth, two-thousand and eight. we hope you'll share your personal revolution and attend. this year's show includes go van gogh, the red water revival, king thief and victoria. ticket information will be available soon, but for now, if you would like to be put on the list for tickets, just email the red water revival. thank you.
peace and love, boogie and swank.
the Revolucion team.
